Prioritization of Purchasing Criteria by Linear Best-Worst Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Method for Optimal Provision of Medical Supplies
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: One of the main challenges of the health system is improving the quality of healthcare services by adjusting the costs. The right choice of tools will bring economic savings besides excellent service quality. Since medical supplies are among the fundamental and costly elements in providing services, the expertise of purchasing has become an important and complex issue. This study aimed to prioritize criteria for purchasing medical supplies. Method: This research is an applied study conducted with a descriptive survey method. In this study, the criteria collected from related studies and completed with the opinion of experts were prioritized and weighted for four categories of medical supplies by the linear best-worst multi-criteria decision-making method using Lingo and Excel software. Results: By weighting sixteen sub-criteria of purchasing medical supplies in the form of five categories, the importance of each criterion was determined. According to the results, the two sub-criteria of "quality" and "price" were recognized as the most important and "seller's record" as the least important indicator in the purchase of medical supplies. Conclusion: Using the linear best-worst multi-criteria decision-making method with definite consistency of results and high reliability led to the prioritization and accurate weighting of criteria for purchasing supplies. Paying attention to the indicators of "cost", "quality and safety", "compliance with requirements", "delivery conditions", and "supplier records" in the purchase of medical supplies, in addition to guaranteeing the quality and continuity of services, will lead to a significant reduction in supply costs.

Evaluation and Prioritization of Criteria Affecting the Selection of Landscape Species, Using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Systems
It is impractical to implement conservation efforts for all species due to complexity of natural systems, large scale of biodiversity issues, and budget limitations. Prioritizing species of conservation importance can alleviate this issue. Multiple interrelated criteria may be used for conservation prioritization of species. Therefore, the accurate evaluation of criteria is a multi-criteria dec...
full textChoosing the best method for targeting of subsidies using fuzzy multi-criteria decision
The subsidy is one of the most important economic tools and the government’s supportive policies for the protection of low-income groups. The inefficiency of the subsidy distribution puts a heavy cost burden on the government and also create injustice. Subsidies are aimed to achieve social justice, welfare, and fair income distribution. Therefore, the necessity of paying subsidies and support f...
full textSuitable Site Selection for Avicennia marina Plantation in the Coastal Region of Bushehr, using Best-Worst Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Method
This study was conducted to identify suitable sites for planting Avicennia marina in Soltani Khore of the urban coast of Bushehr. The most effective criteria for Avicennia marina planting include land characteristics (i.e. land use, slope, elevation, soil electrical conductivity, soil texture, and soil type), seawater (i.e. tidal range, wave, acidity, electrical conductivity, and salinity), and...
full textINTUITIONISTIC FUZZY DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS FOR MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION MAKING
Dimensional analysis, for multi-criteria decision making, is a mathematical method that includes diverse heterogeneous criteria into a single dimensionless index. Dimensional Analysis, in its current definition, presents the drawback to manipulate fuzzy information commonly presented in a multi-criteria decision making problem. To overcome such limitation, we propose two dimensional analysis ba...
full textEvaluation of recommender systems: A multi-criteria decision making approach
The evaluation and selection of recommender systems is a difficult decision making process. This difficulty is partially due to the large diversity of published evaluation criteria in addition to lack of standardized methods of evaluation. As such, a systematic methodology is needed that explicitly considers multiple, possibly conflicting metrics and assists decision makers to evaluate and find...
